DEFINITIONS
  1. Demographic Layers – located on the Map Search page are a visual representation of demographics provided by Synergos Technologies.  The two datasets that are represented are Popstats and Workplace.
  2. State, Community and County Profiles - up-to-date demographic information and a user interface for entry of local information.
  3. Qualified Sites – A qualified site is a greenfield site that has completed an extensive review process based on a comprehensive and pre-determined set of criteria (i.e. phase one environmental analysis, geotechnical report, various clearances from regulatory bodies, Geographical Informational system (GIS) mapping, etc.). All qualified sites are identified by a special notation and logo.
  4. Bing Base Map - http://www.bing.com/maps
  5. Geospatial Data Portal – Centralized, efficient delivery of GIS-ready data specifically geared toward the needs of economic developers and site selection consultants which makes it easy for site selectors to download Economic Development Spatial Data for the whole state.

    1. Local Data (profiles only) – Data and information such as Market Access, Education, Incentives, Taxes, Government, Utilities and Services, Quality of Life, Major Employers, Contacts etc. provided by various local contacts around the state.

     7.  Custom Reports – Allows user to run specified demographic reports for only the variables he/she     

            selects.  The user has the ability to display information on graphs and charts as well.

  Property Manager – One that has registered on the site and added a property.  This person is 

            charged with adding, maintaining, and editing properties for a specified area. 

     
      9.  Community Profile Editor – One that has registered on the site and has been designated to add

Searching
 

  1. How many ways are there to search for a property?

There are 4 different ways to search for a property: By Area (County, Region); Sorted Lists (Name, Address); Custom Search (11 to 13 searchable fields); Map Search (search visually on the map).

To search By Area: Go to the ‘Buildings and Sites’ tab, select ‘search buildings’ or ‘search sites’, then click on one of the buttons in the By Area section.

To search by Sorted Lists: Go to the ‘Buildings and Sites’ tab, select ‘search buildings’ or ‘search sites’, then pick from the Sorted Lists or type in a Name or Address.

Custom Search: Go to the ‘Buildings and Sites’ tab, select ‘search buildings’ or ‘search sites’, then enter criteria in any of the 11 to 13 fields, and click on ‘search buildings’ or ‘search sites’.

Map Search: Go to the ‘Map Search’ tab, and use the bing map tools or the roller ball on your mouse to zoom into the area you are interested in. 

  1. I only want to see properties in particular counties, can I do that?

Yes, click on the Buildings and Sites tab, then select ‘Search Buildings’ or ‘Search Sites’, and then click the ‘By County’ button.  You may select just one county or multiple counties.

  1. Can I compare properties?

You may compare up to 3 properties.  On the Search Results page put a check in the compare box of up to 3 properties, then click on ‘Custom Comparison’, select the attributes that you wish to compare, and click on ‘Custom Comparison’

  1. I ran a search but didn’t find what I was looking for; can I be notified if a property that meets my requirements is entered?

Yes, you will need to run a Custom Search, then on the top of the search results page, type in a ‘Search Name’ and email, then click on ‘Notify me of Changes’.  You will receive an email when a property is entered that meets your requirements.


Demographic and Workforce Reports

 

  1. What locations can I run a demographic report on?

You can run the following demographic reports: 1Statewide, 1Multi- County, Single County), Communities, and Properties.  (1not available on county/local specific websites)

  1. Do you have a standard report I can run?

We have 4 predefined reports: Population Details, Workplace, Spending Patterns, and Local Data.  Please see #4 for instructions on running reports.

  1. What is the Custom Report?

The Custom Report gives you access to 3 large data sets, Popstats, Workplace, and Spending Patterns.  It allows you to drill down to the exact data you are looking for.  Please see #4 for instructions on running reports.

  1. I need to run a report, but I’m not sure what I need to do.

Find the report you would like to run below.

Statewide-Predefined Report:  Click on the Profiles tab, select the ‘Entire State’ button, choose ‘Population Detail’ or, ‘Workplace’ or, ‘Spending Patterns’. 

Statewide-Custom Report:  Click on the Profiles tab, select the ‘Entire State’ button, choose ‘Custom Report’, select the report you would like to run from the ‘choose a category’ drop down box, expand and collapse the tree to find the data you are looking for and put a check in the box next to the data, then click on ‘View Selected Report’, you may then select ‘generate report as PDF’ or ‘generate report as XLS’. 

Multi-County-Predefined Report:  Click on the Profiles tab, on the map click on the counties you want;, as you select them you will see them appear under ‘Selected Counties’ on the right hand side of the screen (to unselect them click on the red ‘x’), select ‘View Profile’, then choose ‘Population Detail’ or, ‘Workplace’ or, ‘Spending Patterns’ or ‘local data. 

Multi-County-Custom Report:  Click on the Profiles tab, on the map click on the counties you want, as you select them you will see them appear under ‘Selected Counties’ on the right hand side of the screen (to unselect them click on the red ‘x’), select ‘View Profile’, choose ‘Custom Report’, select the report you would like to run from the ‘choose a category’ drop down box, expand and collapse the tree to find the data you are looking for and put a check in the box next to the data, then click on ‘View Selected Report’, you may then select ‘generate report as PDF’ or ‘generate report as XLS’. 


***Use INSTRUCTIONS A if you are on a statewide website, INSTRUCTIONS B if you are on Regional website, and use INSTRUCTIONS C if you are on a countywebsite.***

Single County or Community-Predefined Report:

INSTRUCTIONS A (Statewide website only)

Click on the Profiles tab, make sure the ‘County’ bubble is selected, on the map click on the county you want, select ‘View Profile’, select the community you want or leave the county selected, click either the ‘By Boundary’ bubble or the ‘By Radius’ bubble (if you select ‘by radius’ enter a mileage in the box), then choose ‘Population Detail’ or, ‘Workplace’ or, ‘Spending Patterns’ or ‘local data. (local data is not available for ‘By Radius’ reports)

INSTRUCTIONS B (Regional website only)

Click on the Profiles tab, on the map click on the county you want, select ‘View Profile’, select the community you want or leave the county selected, click either the ‘By Boundary’ bubble or the ‘By Radius’ bubble (if you select ‘by radius’ enter a mileage in the box), then choose ‘Population Detail’ or, ‘Workplace’ or, ‘Spending Patterns’ or ‘local data. (local data is not available for ‘By Radius’ reports)

Single County-Custom Report: 

INSTRUCTIONS A (Statewide website only)

Click on the Profiles tab, make sure the ‘County’ bubble is selected, on the map click on the county you want, select ‘View Profile’, select the community you want or leave the county selected, click either the ‘By Boundary’ bubble or the ‘By Radius’ bubble (if you select ‘by radius’ enter a number in the box), choose ‘Custom Report’, select the report you would like to run from the ‘choose a category’ drop down box, expand and collapse the tree to find the data you are looking for and put a check in the box next to the data, then click on ‘View Selected Report’, you may then select ‘generate report as PDF’ or ‘generate report as XLS’.

INSTRUCTIONS B (Regional website only)

Click on the Profiles tab, select the community you want or leave the community selected, click either the ‘By Boundary’ bubble or the ‘By Radius’ bubble (if you select ‘by radius’ enter a number in the box), choose ‘Custom Report’, select the report you would like to run from the ‘choose a category’ drop down box, expand and collapse the tree to find the data you are looking for and put a check in the box next to the data, then click on ‘View Selected Report’, you may then select ‘generate report as PDF’ or ‘generate report as XLS’.

Property-Predefined Report:

Search for a property using one of the methods listed in #1 under Searching, click on the ‘demographic reports’ tab located at the top of the Property Flyer, enter three (3) different radii mileages, then choose ‘Population Detail’ or, ‘Workplace’ or, ‘Spending Patterns’

Property-Custom Report:

Search for a property using one of the methods listed in #1 under Searching, click on the ‘demographic reports’ tab located at the top of the Property Flyer, enter the 3 radii, choose ‘Custom Report’, select the report you would like to run from the ‘choose a category’ drop down box, expand and collapse the tree to find the data you are looking for and put a check in the box next to the data, then click on ‘View Selected Report’, you may then select ‘generate report as PDF’ or ‘generate report as XLS’.
